Oil truck and stolen car crash resulting in 5 fatalities

Big rigs can be dangerous on the highway, especially when carrying oil. But it is even more dangerous when there are police chasing a stolen car on the same highway. Unfortunately, this past Wednesday, Long Island residents had to deal with this brutal scenario.

Around 11 a.m., a stolen Camaro and two police cars in pursuit were traveling east on State Route 25. The driver of the Camaro lost control and crashed the stolen vehicle into an oil truck heading west. It then struck an eastbound Mazda, which in turn struck an Infiniti, as reported by the police chief of Suffolk County.

The Mazda exploded into flames, killing all four people inside the vehicle. A 19-year-old passenger in the stolen Camaro was ejected from the vehicle and also killed. The driver of the Camaro was transported to the hospital, as was the driver of the oil truck. Both had nonlife-threatening injuries. The only uninjured person was the driver of the Infiniti.

This horrific accident claimed the lives of five people almost instantly. The police chief claims that they are not even sure of the “order of the collision” yet, and they will have to “reconstruct the order and mechanism of the crash scene.” One thing for certain, there are families who are grieving the loss of beloved relatives.

If you or a loved one are injured or killed in a truck or auto accident due to the reckless actions of another person, you have a right to be compensated for your injuries or your loss. Losses can include property damages, ambulance fees, medical and/or final expenses, loss of wages or income and any other damages you may have suffered. Taking appropriate and timely action can preserve your rights to seek compensation.
